Frequently Asked Questions

How many physiotherapy sessions will I need for my neck pain?

How long neck pain takes to settle depends on the cause and on how long it has been present, so an honest answer needs the assessment first. Acute neck pain may resolve quickly, while chronic conditions might require a longer treatment plan. After your initial assessment, we'll provide a more personalized estimate for your specific case.

Can neck pain cause headaches?

Yes, neck pain and dysfunction can often cause headaches known as cervicogenic headaches. These typically originate from the neck and radiate to the head. Issues with the upper cervical joints, muscles, and nerves can refer pain to the head region. Our physiotherapy approach addresses these underlying neck issues to help resolve both the neck pain and related headaches.

Is it normal to hear cracking sounds in my neck?

Occasional cracking sounds (crepitus) in the neck are usually harmless and result from gas bubbles being released within joint fluid, or tendons moving over bone. However, if these sounds are accompanied by pain, discomfort, or neurological symptoms like numbness or weakness, they should be evaluated. Our physiotherapists can assess whether the sounds you're experiencing are of concern.

Should I use a neck collar or brace for my pain?

Generally, we don't recommend prolonged use of neck collars for most types of neck pain. While they might provide temporary relief in acute cases, extended use can lead to muscle weakness and dependency. Our approach focuses on active rehabilitation to strengthen the muscles that naturally support your neck, providing long-term stability and pain relief without external supports.

Can I continue working at my desk job while receiving treatment for neck pain?

In most cases, yes. Rather than complete rest, we typically recommend modifications to your workstation and work habits. Our physiotherapists will provide specific ergonomic advice, posture correction techniques, and exercises you can do at your desk to manage symptoms while continuing to work. We'll work with you to develop strategies that fit your specific job demands.

I was skeptical about physiotherapy at first but Dr. Surabhi completely changed my perspective. Visited for neck pain and posture issues, within a few sessions there was noticeable improvement. She also gives home exercises so recovery continues between sessions. Modern Physio Jaipur is well-equipped and the overall experience is very professional. I'm 45 years old and a driver by profession. I often suffered from neck pain and stiffness due to driving all day. Dr. Surabhi understood my problem well and treated it with therapy within 4-5 days. He not only gave me exercises to do but also suggested a specific neck rest and back support pillow for the car seat. I've been using these products for the past 4 months and truly find long drives much more comfortable and pain-free. Dr. Surabhi's advice is very practical. I'm also posting a photo of my seat setup to help others who drive for long periods of time.

I visited Modern Physio for severe pain in the lower right side of my back after my dog suddenly pulled me in the opposite direction during a walk. The pain was quite intense and was affecting my daily routine. Dr. Surabhi first examined me properly and advised an MRI, which really helped in understanding the root cause. After that, the physiotherapy sessions began. I honestly started feeling relief within just two sessions, and after about 5–6 sessions, my pain was completely resolved. The treatment was very professional, systematic and effective. What I loved most is the overall environment of the clinic. They have a Persian cat, two dogs and a turtle, which makes the place extremely peaceful and positive. It genuinely feels like not just physical healing, but mental and emotional healing too. Highly recommend Modern Physio to anyone dealing with back, neck or joint pain. Thank you so much for the wonderful care and support. 🙏
